We love Aunt Renae

David's Aunt Renae grows us some beautiful pumpkins to carve every year, along with lots of great decorative pumpkins. But the best part of all of it is letting the kids run around her garden and harvest all the gourds. She's even bought the kids little garden tools and gloves so they can be part of the fun. Josh didn't want to stop working and we were getting tired of keeping up with him. We of course had to have a BBQ, and the kids got to load up on soda and cookies.

The Farmers

Gotta love Cornbelly's

Cornbelly's really is the best little pumpkin patch around, if you can even call it that. We've been to a couple different 'patches' around town now and nothing compares to Cornbelly's at Thanksgiving Point. Ammon was cracking me up on the big bouncy pillow. His two arms were like little widmills spining around and on the way up helping him to jump high up in the air. And the 'corn-box', I don't know how I missed it in years past, but we all loved it. We did bring a bit home with us too in pockets, clothes, diapers... And here are some of the playschool kids:
Bennett, London, Josh and Ammon

What to do?

On the way to a BYU football game with our family we ended up in a five car pile-up. Luckily we were the last car to get hit and the civic (as you can see) really didn't suffer much damage. And even better, nobody involved in the accident was hurt. The person who caused the accident had just looked away for a second and had just changed lanes into our lane which had slowed to a stop. He didn't see it and the stoped cars started crunching into each other. Dave saw it all in his rear view mirror and told me that we were about to get hit. I didn't know if I should tense up, or relax, or turn to look, or how bad it would be. The impact wasn't too bad, and I was mostly worried that Ammon and Josh were okay. Ammon slept through it all and Josh was fine.
Anyway, the guy who caused the accident didn't have enough insurance to cover all the damage and so it looks like we would have to pay about $300 or more to fix our car. How annoying is that? I understand that it was an accident, and I'm not mad at the guy or anything, but you still kind of expect him to be responsible for his mistake. Now that I type it all out I wonder if we just need to show a little mercy on the guy and not go after him to pay out of his pocket to fix our car. I don't want to sue the guy. Maybe he has already had to pay a lot out of pocket, not to mention the cost that his insurance will go up. I don't know.

The Summer Crew

If you were outside this summer at the north end of Sugarloaf then you probably saw these five kids running around, and their three moms sitting in chairs in the driveway chatting away. This was the first year Josh really started to want to play with friends all the time, and since I'm too paranoid to let him and Ammon roam the streets alone I would always want to go out and watch them play and before long we had a fun little mom group out there everyday. We always tried to recrute any moms that past our way and make them sit down with us. My kids really started to benefit from all the different popsicle options I started to discover at the grocery store, mostly because I was craving icey stuff all day. Thanks Katie and Carla for a fun summer!

School is Cool

This is Ammon's cute 'Playschool' group. Him and his two year old friends. It's just once a week for 1.5 hours, but he loves it. We rotate around to different houses and we teach them a letter, do a little craft, sings songs, read a book (all this takes about 10min) and then just let them play and play until it's time to go home. This is Ammon on his first day showing Dad, as soon as Dad got home and was still out in the garage, what he did in playschool. Ammon often brings his little papers in the car with him when we pick up Josh from his preschool so he can show him right away, and Josh is always very interested and excited to see what Ammon did. Cute kids.

My Favorite Day

I love my sweetie. And I love his birthday. It really is my favorite day because I love that so much attention is on him, i.e. lots of phone calls, well wishes, special attention at work.... We often open presents in the morning and because I was running a little late in getting it on the table I tossed the camera to Josh to take some pictures of Dad opening his presents. These pictures crack me up because he was trying to be very thorough in capturing the moment; making sure to get a shot of some gifts, the food and who was there. (I ended up reading that book your looking at while looking around the house for something to read. I would say it was just okay, but at the same time I find my self now half way through the Lord of the Rings books, so I guess it interested me more then I realized.)
